Thanks to Madame Noire For A Great Review

September 14,2013 (www.madamenoire.com) If media accounts and economic studies are any indication, the financial status of the African-American community is at a record low. We continue to face the highest unemployment rates, and the wealth gap between blacks and whites has tripled in the past 25 years, says a report from Brandeis University.

It’s sometimes difficult to believe that 50 years post-March, during the second term of the country’s first black president, there’s still a blanket of institutional racism so thick that African Americans are perpetually stuck with thin financial portfolios in the country’s lowest economic strata.

But that doesn’t have to be the case.

Since meeting the late W. Clement Stone, Dennis Kimbro has dedicated his life’s work to sharing the secrets and strategies of wealthy African Americans. And in his latest book, The Wealth Choice: Success Secrets of Black Millionaires, Kimbro serves up real talk about what it takes to become a one-percenter.

In addition to providing anecdotes from the lives of scores black millionaires (Kimbro writes that he interviewed “hundreds upon hundreds” for the book), The Wealth Choice details seven laws of success that have been applied – whether consciously or otherwise – in the lives of every high-achiever featured. To be fair, some of the concepts may seem familiar if you’ve read Kimbro’s 1992 offering, Think and Grow Rich: A Black ChoiceBut rather than feeling recycled, Kimbro’s work in The Wealth Choice serves as testament to the immutable nature of these core wealth-building principles.

Kimbro taps inner secrets of African-American millionaires and wealth

April 22, 2013 (Atlanta Journal-Constitution) Author Dennis Kimbro has spent the past seven years interviewing people many of us probably wish we could be. Millionaires.

Kimbro, a professor of business at Clark Atlanta University, interviewed 1,000 of the African-American community’s wealthiest individuals for his new — and fifth — book, “The Wealth Choice: Success Secrets of Black Millionaires.”

Kimbro pored over census and federal research data and sent out 118-question surveys to identify and interview the rich in a variety of fields. As people heard about his project, they steered him to successful business owners and corporate executives.

Dr. Kimbro’s Editorial in Atlanta Business Chronicle: Gaining Wealth is a Conscious Choice

March 22, 2013 It has been nearly seven years since the death of Ebony magazine founder John H. Johnson, and nearly three decades since the day I sat in his thickly carpeted, exquisitely paneled office as he quizzed me on the rudiments of operating a successful business as well as the inner secrets of wealth creation.

At his peak, Johnson’s financial portfolio included publishing, cosmetics, television and radio. In 1982, he was the first African American to be cited on Forbes magazine’s list of the 400 wealthiest Americans. Before Jackie Robinson integrated major league baseball, before Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. marched on …

  1. I reviewed one of your interviews with Roland Martin. I heard you say that there were three questions for success:
What is your area of experience?
    What is your passion?
What would you do for free?

I have often had trouble with two of these so I am asking your advice.
I have considerable experience and education.
I really do not have a passion nor can I think of one: there are things that I like to do better than others but am not passionate about them.

I would do nothing for free nor can I think of anything for free.
