“How do I make money?” It’s a question that most of us ask ourselves each day.
“How do I make money? How do I make more money? How do I make more money faster?”
But no matter how much you wish that money grew on trees, as Madame CJ Walker, the first African American millionaire in US history said, “There is no flower-strewn path to success.”
The problem that most of us have with trying to earn money is that we think about all the wrong things. We think about the bills we have to pay, the mouths to feed, the brakes that need to be changed when you finally have extra cash.
The problem with that thinking is you’re not thinking about how to make money, you’re thinking how to spend it. You are already visualizing that money going away, before you even have it. When you get the money, that’s exactly what it does. Money is just energy – it obeys your commands like electricity flows to a lamp when you flip a switch.
The key to turning your life around and getting a extra dough to land safely in your pocket doesn’t start with a job, a bank account, or even a piggy bank. It starts in your mind.
For my new book “The Wealth Choice: Success Secrets of Black Millionaires”, I asked thousands of millionaires what their secret is. One wealthy individual told me “I was wealthy when I was dead broke I knew what I wanted to do, and I knew I’d do it.”
At that point, the man didn’t see being penniless as an obstacle. He already knew in his mind that he was going to achieve his dreams.
But how many times do we think beyond the obstacles of money?
If you can stick to a single purpose, no matter the difficulties, then you can and will succeed. The big secret of success: stick to your guns.
People get distracted by the small things; not having exactly the right job, not starting out with the right parents or growing up in a good neighborhood, but those are details that don’t matter. In the long run, a positive attitude, working smart and perseverance will get much farther than a college degree will (though it certainly can help to have one).
How do YOU start to make money? You believe that you’re already wealthy, stay focused on that one goal, and don’t let anything—or more importantly, anyone– keep you from your path.
Becoming wealthy is a choice, a choice that anyone can make and anyone can achieve.
